Customer Spotlight: Elyse Jokinen

We love Elyse because of her positive outlook on life. She brings her A-game to everything she does, which makes her a great PiperWai customer.

She's not just passionate about PiperWai, however. Photography has been a huge part of her life since she was young. Her father introduced the skill to her and she now runs her own business, where she helps other women in business get a step up with professional photography. (Take a peek at her website while you're here.)

How did you hear about PiperWai?

I found PiperWai while watching Shark Tank with my husband. We've watched for more than three years and PiperWai was the first thing I ever purchased while watching the show.. I couldn't wait to try it!

What was your first impression after using it?

I've began switching over all of my personal care products/home products to more a natural/earth friendly option almost five years ago. I tried EVERY deodorant out there but nothing truly worked for me. For the longest time I had to keep two deodorants in my bathroom -- I used the natural one (that didn't exactly work) on days that I stayed home and then the drugstore brand on days I left the house.. it stunk, literally! After using PiperWai the first day and not having any issues I still didn't believe it.. LOL, it took me three days to be like, "OK, YES! This really works!"

Tell us a little about yourself?

My husband and I have been married for three years. We went to high school together but didn't go on our first date until eight years after we graduated! We were both living in different cities and when we went out to lunch that first time I knew I would be married to him someday! My son is 14 months old. He is the greatest blessing in my life as well as the biggest challenge! He's taught me so much about patience and life and LOVE. My little Thomas George.

What do you do for a living?

I'm a photographer that works primarily with women in business. I absolutely LOVE connecting with strong, brilliant business owners in my community and helping them show the world who they are and what they do through imagery.

How did you get involved in photography?

I was inspired to start photography from my dad. He's had a camera on his hip for as long as I can remember. I love his photographs throughout the years so very much. It's just an art that can't be matched!

Where are you from?

Originally from Northern Minnesota and currently living in Kailua on the island of Oahu!

What do you enjoy about your job?

It's so important these days to have a strong online presence and most of the women I work with are doing it all on their own. Having professional photos can make such a difference on their website and social media. Our shoots feel so creative and FUN and we end up supporting each other long after the shoot.

Just this month I've started asking deeper questions to the women I photograph. It takes me so much further into the why and what in their business. I published my first interview + photos on my blog and it just made my heart sing. There are so many talented women who are doing things for GOOD. It's inspiring and I hope to make it a series that I do with every woman on the other side of my lens!

What do you like to do for fun?

When I'm not moming or working, I like to travel and explore new places, work on personal photography projects, read (currently reading Mantra magazine and Women Who Run with Wolves) get on my yoga mat and stretch it out -- even if it's only 15 minutes it makes SUCH a difference!

What’s something that’s important to you?

Trying to stay lighthearted and keep business and life FUN while also kickin' butt and blazin' trails. It's a fine balance, but one I am willing to work on for life. The world needs WOMEN who are brave enough to GO FOR IT and use their voice to build and share what they believe it!

Any wise words to leave us with?

I believe that when you feel something in your heart, it must be followed. Sometimes you try to shut your heart up with your mind, but you can't trick your heart! It's so important to follow it.. even if it's scary, even if it's easier not to. Your inner wisdom and intuition always know. Get it girl!
