How did you hear about PiperWai?

I first heard about PiperWai on Shark Tank when the product was featured on one of the episodes.

What was your first impression when you tried it?

I really liked that PiperWai had a very pleasant, therapeutic, herbal scent. It worked well in absorbing my sweat and left no odor or waxy feeling on my underarm skin all throughout the day.

What about PiperWai makes you want to spread the word to others about the product?

The product works very well and is all natural, safe to use plus safe for the environment.

We are so happy you have spread the word! How many PiperWai converts have you made?

I have convinced my husband to use PiperWai full-time. He absolutely loves it!

Let’s get to know you. What’s your home state and what do you do for a living?

My home state is the golden state of California. I’m the founder and interior designer of an interior design firm, TropicaZona, which also sells coastal, tropical, Asian style home décor and gift products at TropicaZona.com. I am also an accessories designer with several product lines of women’s accessories such as cosmetic bags, jewelry organizers, coin purses and more. I sell my products on MarisaDamico.com.

You incorporate sustainable living in your professional life and personal life. When did you start incorporating sustainability in your everyday life?

I started incorporating sustainability in both my professional and personal life about five years ago. My mantra has been “reduce, reuse and recycle” to save the environment for our generation and the next. I give great thoughts to all my personal buying decisions to help reduce waste and recycle and reuse as much as I can. That also goes with when designing and making my products. I use recycled materials whenever I can.

You also donate a portion of your business’ proceeds to The Sierra Club. Tell us why you chose this organization and how it’s making a difference in the world.

As a nature lover, I feel strongly in helping to protect our environment. By supporting the Sierra Club Foundation, a charitable environmental program that promotes efforts to educate and empower people to protect and improve the natural and human environment, I feel that I am doing my part to save our planet.

Tell us about a project you’re really proud of.

Currently, I’m working with several factories to get my products made in the US and am hoping that in a few years ALL of my products will be made here. This is a goal I would very much like to achieve to support our economy with job creation. It is my way of giving back to my beloved country.

What do you like to do for fun?

Traveling to different countries and experiencing new cultures, especially trying new cuisines, is what I do for fun.

Do you have any hidden talents or weird facts about yourself you can share?

By the time I completed high school, I had lived in five countries and attended six schools. This is due to my father’s diplomatic career. From this background and experience, I have developed a unique ability to be extremely adaptable in various places.

Favorite animal?

I love hummingbirds and watch them come to my porch daily. They remind me of myself – small and full of energy!

How about the most embarrassing album you own? (No judgment.)

Barry Manilow Classics!!

Here’s a chance for you to do some shameless self-promotion. What do you do that you want the internet to know about?

I’d love for more people to know my products that I design. They are very unique and currently only sold on my website at MarisaDamico.com. Please do check them out!
