How did you hear about PiperWai?

I saw a Facebook ad and then I found out a friend was using it, so I decided to give it a try.

What was your first impression when you tried it?

Surprisingly light and I didn’t feel guilty about smearing toxins into my pits.

What about PiperWai makes you want to spread the word to others about the product?

Fantastic, toxin-free product with great odor-controlling support.

You own your own business, Searchlight Social. What do you enjoy about being an entrepreneur?

I love helping small and medium-sized businesses grow and be even more successful. Traditionally, these businesses have been left behind in the digital age and I’m happy to help bring them up to speed and leverage the latest technology to measurably scale, instead of hoping and praying that their referral sources don’t dry up. (Get it? Dry up?) It’s rewarding to know that by helping their business grow, they’re further strengthening the economy and creating new jobs. It’s incredibly satisfying to do what I love to do everyday in an honest and straightforward way while scaling my business on my own terms.

Your business focuses on digital marketing. What’s your favorite aspect of being part of this industry?

Digital marketing can mean 100 different things to 100 different people, which is why I love digging into the details of each new client and strategizing on the best plan for reaching their goals. What may make sense for one business won’t always make sense for the next. I also love educating clients on the latest digital marketing tools and platforms and watching the light bulb go off when they learn of something they never knew existed or didn’t realize how impactful it can be to growing their business.

You are also heavily involved in the Guardian Angel Foundation. Tell us about why this organization is important to you.

I’m in the beginning stages of my relationship with GAH, but when I recently learned about their mission, I knew I had to find a way to be involved. Their BRIDGE and Camp Angel programs (can we include links here) inspired me because they are designed to help families and children grieve the loss of a loved one. I lost my father to a car accident when I was about 5 years old and hearing their story made me think back to how I felt during that time and about the grief counseling that I participated in as a child. One of the things that stuck out to me when I heard about the programs was the reason why teens say they participated. Without exception, when asked why they were taking part, teens said, “I’m here to help my mom” or “I’m here to help my dad.” Imagine being that selfless in the midst of such a terrible tragedy.

How can others help support the Guardian Angel Foundation?

Folks can help support the foundation by donating either time or money by going to gahfoundation.org. They can also follow the foundation and Camp Angel on Facebook.

Tell us about a project you’re really proud of, whether it’s in your career, volunteering or personal hobbies.

I’m most proud of helping people whom I’ve managed grow in their careers and get promoted.

What do you like to do for fun?

I like to keep things pretty laid-back. I enjoy spending time with friends or traveling. Having recently moved back to the Midwest, I’ve been able to find lots of other Euchre players, which didn’t exist on the east or west coasts. People looked at me cross-eyed whenever I’d ask. I also like to attend sporting events.

Do you have any hidden talents or fun facts about yourself you can share?

Fun fact: I have two different colored eyes.

What’s your favorite animal?

Canines… DOGS to the layperson. (Name the movie.)

How about the most embarrassing album you own? (No judgment.)

Oof. That’s tough. Probably Arrested Development – 3 Years, 5 Months and 2 Days in the Life Of... .I used to love that song, “Tennessee."
