Daily Quarantine Life With PiperWai

By Arnelle Pierre-Louis

It is currently Day...well let’s just say it has been a long couple of months in quarantine. Most people around the world have been experiencing a roller coaster of emotions during this pandemic. Although there is a lot of uncertainty right now, we’re celebrating the things that keep our spirits up. That’s why we wanted to share with you how our team and a few of our amazing bloggers are staying positive and creative in isolation!

"I've been finding a lot of peace through routine and structure during this challenging time. I've been baking sourdough bread, which takes me 2 - 3 days, and when I'm done I feel like I've accomplished something. I'm also watching a LOT of RuPaul's Drag Race  and the Met Opera Nightly Streams."

“I've been taking this time to design a committed plant-based diet for myself. Pre-quarantine (often on the go) it was challenging to consciously plan for plant-based eating on a regular basis. Now with more time at home, I'm able to take time to think about nutritious plant-based breakfast, lunch, and dinner ideas that benefit my overall health and our planet.”

“Things that are getting me through quarantine:  Feeling the sun on my skin, meditation, morning tea time, evening elixirs (golden milk with Oatly oat milk and a dash of fresh ginger are my favorite), at-home workouts, and most importantly, a creative project to fill the downtime when I'm not working. I've been designing and sewing; it requires a lot of patience and attention to detail so in a way it forces me to refocus from the daily stressors and the uncertainty we're facing during this time. “

“Saying positive during quarantine means taking care of myself and doing what feels right in the moment. From home workouts to walks with my dog, to just binge-watching Netflix, it’s been important for me to know my body. I let myself rest and be ok with it, as well as motivate myself to get moving when I need to.”

“Practicing self-care whenever possible, slowing down and trying to stay present deep breathing, and practicing gratitude. Taking time to expand on my hobbies involving DIY beauty and aromatherapy. Which involves taking online classes to keep the creative juices flowing and sharing my knowledge with videos on my social channels.”

“I’m Ally, a first-time momma and I am spending time with my 9-month-old son during quarantine. We’ve been going on walks and doing fun sensory activities at home. I’ve been doing some projects at home that I normally wouldn’t have time to get done. Be safe everyone, this too shall pass!”

“What I’ve been doing to be positive during quarantine: Well, first of all, I stopped reading the news and I’ve been focusing on spending time with my siblings by coming up with fun things to do around the house like a “quar-olympics” where had a competition to see who could sprint across the living room the fastest. Also painting portraits of my family has been a great way for me to continue to be creative while also spending time with them!”

Jill Gruskowski, Sustainability for PiperWai

“To help myself stay positive during quarantine, I have been picking up old activities that I drifted from in the past few years, like bike rides and family walks to spend time outdoors. In addition, I have created a "happy space" in my house with comfy furniture, books, and materials for calming activities like yoga and rock painting. Having a space dedicated to stress-relieving activities has allowed me to remain calm during this crisis, without feeling the need to leave my house to rejuvenate.”

“My family and I are doing well and happy in quarantine during this pandemic, doing our part to stay safe and keep our community safe.  I have been grateful to be able to have my family home and safe and we have finally taken a dive into our puzzle collection that we used to be too busy for! We are truly enjoying the time together.  It is an uncertain time and we are happy to do our part while the world is doing the same.  My husband and I are both essential workers and still getting hours in at work, other than that staying home and the kiddos have been quarantined and doing well! Stay safe everyone!”

“I have really been focusing on my inner peace and taking the time to get reacquainted with myself. I’ve been spending time with my family, catching up on Netflix shows, going for drives, reading on my kindle, and finally writing down the stories that have been swirling around in my head. I try to look at this as an opportunity to learn more about myself and to finally do the things that I have been putting off for so long.”
